The Black Beast vs Hapa. Travis Browne has a 4″ height advantage over Derrick Lewis but not much else!. They have exactly the same reach at 79 inches. There is a slight leg reach advantage for Browne but i doubt this will play into it much as both men are KO/TKO specialists.
I find this fight a real tough call and keep altering my view on it. I am slightly flavoring Lewis at this moment in time and it is solely based on his slightly superior movement around the Octagon. Also Browne is a man mountain at 6′ 7″ and really as a pure mixed martial artist, i think his skills are pretty limited. Both men have very high knock-out percentages so i wouldn’t expect this fight to go anywhere near the distance. Browne for me would also have an edge in cardio and conditioning – so if the fight does move on into the later stages i would expect the odds tilting in his favor for a W.
The Irish booking firm PaddyPower.com have this fight
which is basically a paper thin favoritism for Lewis – both fighters are odds on which tells you all you need to know. The Bookies are covering their asses.
There has been an undercurrent of animosity surrounding this fight with Lewis having a few choice words about Browne’s domestic turbulence with his previous girlfriend. Browne is of course currently involved in a high profile romance with Ronda Rousey.
One female fighter who is making her grand entrance to the UFC is Gina Mazany and is up against the #7 ranked bantamweight Sara McCann. I have a strong feeling Gina ‘Danger Mazany may win this on her debut. Although McCann is undoubtedly a seasoned UFC fighter and has a huge wrestling background (She is a former Olympic Silver medalist – Athens Olympics 2004)
Paddypower.com are offering
Gina Mazany 7/2
Sara McCann 1/6
